In the lab we have a 150w lasercutter from GWEIKE. It can can be used for cutting and engraving of non-ferrous materials. It is importand to know what kind of materials to use, as some plastics release poisonous fumes when beeing or engraved. Below you will find the specs of the machine and info on what materials that is recommend (and which is not) and settings to use on them. As most lasers and materials act different, put in some time on testcuts to find the setting best suited for you.

The software used for the Laser is Lightburn.

You can find manuals and tutorials here: https://lightburnsoftware.com/

IMPORTANT!

  1. When using autofocus when setting up the machine, make sure that the probe (the golden “pen”) hits the material and not outside of it. If not the machine will not stop and get damaged. And you will have to pay for the repairs.

  2. When using the lasercutter, make sure you NEVER go above 80% power (the CO2 tube burns out quick and is expensive).
